    Description

    Rare Item
Scarce knife bayonet for use on the Mannlicher-Carcano model 1938 Short Rifle. These bayonets were originally made as folding bayonets, intended to remain attached to the rifle but the design proved problematic, so they were converted to being a fixed blade bayonet with a scabbard.
The 178mm single-edged blade has a flat spine with a deep, narrow fuller below. The blade terminates in a spear point. The blade has been service sharpened and is in very good condition with wear to the original blued finish.
The steel crosspiece and muzzle ring retain their original blued finish, as does the pommel. The wooden grip scales are in excellent condition. The blued spine of the tang is stamped with a maker’s mark and serial number. The press-stud mechanism works perfectly.
The bayonet is complete with its blued steel scabbard with tear-drop frog stud. The scabbard is in excellent condition except a small dent 1/8 "
This is a great example of the scarce Italian World War Two fighting knife bayonet.
    Reasonably Priced. Will not last!
