    Description

Rather rare Art Deco metal chocolate box, which once contained five pounds(!) of “THE NEW YORKER BONBONETTES.”
No other examples of this item could be found in Google images at the time of this listing.
From the illustration on the hinged cover, “The New Yorker,” in this case, is the hotel, not the magazine.
This rather large metal box once held 5 pounds(!) of candy. It measures about 10 3/4 by 6 1/4 by 4 1/2 inches, or 27.5 by 16 by 11.5 cm.
In fair to good condition. Shows signs of wear, a slight bit of rust, minor dents, some loss of paint, some stains, and a young girl's drawing of stylish woman inside the cover.
Original paint is delicate, and could easily be rubbed off in cleaning, so be careful!
The (now Wyndham) New Yorker Hotel was built in 1929 and remains an icon of the NYC skyline at 481 8th Avenue.
