    Description

Pre-WWII Chinese-German Mauser Bayonet with Scabbard. Ricasso is unmarked, no markings anywhere. The grip is painted black but the paint is flaking and there is some light rust with dirt on the rivets. The blade has some nicks, has not been sharpened but the tip is sharp, and the blade does wiggle. Lock button is functional. The crossguard wiggles a bit also. The black enameled scabbard is solid, a couple minor dents, and the paint has light scattered loss throughout (mainly to the edges). Length of the blade measures 16 9/16" (3/4" x 5/8" x 5/8"), length of the bayonet is 21 11/16", and overall in the scabbard it is 22 7/16". Muzzle opening is 5/8".
According to World of Bayonets - Crude sword bayonet for use with 8 mm. Mauser 1898 rifles. These all-metal bayonets are believed to have been produced in Belgium following the First World War for export to China. This example appears to utilize a Pattern 1853-style triangular blade. The blade is unmarked, so it is unclear whether it was salvaged from an earlier socket bayonet or newly manufactured in the 1920s, when this bayonet was assembled.
