    Description

Up for auction is this rare commemorative octagonal nursery plate. It was manufactured in Staffordshire, England and was made to commemorate the christening of Queen Victoria's first child, Victoria (Vicky) The Princess Royal in1841.  This plate although it states 'The Bishop of Heliopolis' has always been a puzzle to commemorative collectors.  The Bishop of Heliopolis did exist but was a very unknown Irishman and was certainly not worthy of any commemoration.  There are plates in existence that to state the correct commemoration.   The hand colored transfer shows a Bishop holding the young Princess with the Royal Family watching the ceremony.  The border design shows raised daisies and a maroon trim.   It measures 7“ across and comes in good excellent / pristine condition for its age, with no cracks or repairs.  Buyer pays only actual shipping costs with no additional charges and no handling fees.

Covid update – 22/06/21 - Bermuda was recently in ‘lockdown’ due to a recent rapid rise in Covid cases.   Our Govt. offices and Post Offices were closed during this period.   They have recently opened and we are fully operational again.  There still maybe some slight delays due to rerouting of postal air routes and reductions in flights.  Thank you for your patience during these trying times.
